The Lion In Autumn is No More

The lion in autumn will roar no more

His life taken by a deadly disease and

a broken heart because he should have done more.

JoePa will be remembered forevermore.

Happy Valley will not be the same anymore.

The lion will not run out with his players on fall

Saturdays before the game anymore, but he is not to blame.

JoePa will be remembered forevermore.

His players, family, university , community and football

were his life. “Success with Honor” was what he preached

only to be fired because of a communication breach.

JoePa will be remembered forevermore.

His success, devotion, integrity and love of the game made him

an icon among his peers. He fought for honor, yet departed

wounded by an assistant’s immoral smear.

JoePa will be remembered forevermore.

His legacy will last forever and he will rest in peace as a champion

of education, honor and respect for the game, players and university

he loved best and when the last fan leaves the game and empty seats

remain, win or lose, he will be remembered forevermore.
